Gil Merrick

Merrick was considered to be one of the finest goal keepers during the 1950’s and is arguably the greatest ever Birmingham City goal keeper. During his very successful long spell playing for the blues, he made over 700 appearances for the club and his great goalkeeping earned him 23 caps representing the English national football team. Merrick later on became manager with Birmingham City.
